Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT)
If we could only stay young forever and injury free, life would be a lot easier, however, injuries and aging are a fact of life. Our goal, as always, is to help you live and enjoy your best life, being pain free and possessing the ability to enjoy all that life has to offer.
First developed in Europe, Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology, or EPAT applies acoustic pressure waves that increase blood flow and has shown significant success as a treatment option in healing both orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries with a faster recovery. Approved by the FDA, painful injuries that have failed to respond to other therapies have often shown great success when EPAT was used. More good news is that EPAT has no known risks, no downtime, no complications, no needles, and requires no medications. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals with increased blood circulation. EPAT also blocks pain signals to the brain.
So how does EPAT work?
A hand held applicator along with a gel is applied to the skin over each of the injured areas. The EPAT machine delivers non-invasive low frequency acoustic sound waves, felt as a series of pulses to an area. As sound waves penetrate deep through your soft tissue, alerts telling the cells to release biochemicals that stimulate the body’s natural healing process are sent and increase the nutrient flow to the injured area. Treatment is performed in the office and usually consists of 3 sessions on a weekly basis. While each condition is different, patients usually start to feel a difference after a few treatments while some patients have found immediate relief after the first visit. Treatment sessions take approximately 5-10 minutes depending on the area.
